Upgrading MySQL from version 3.23 to version 4.0

Hello vher,

I actually only ever set up MySQL on my local, Linux setup. I was pleasantly surprised that it was actually much easier than it looked.

I downloaded the RPMs off www.mysql.com (look for Linux x86 RPM downloads) and just followed the instructions to install it; some info here.

Whatever you do, you should backup ALL your databases first, I'd imagine.

Once you do that, there are a few things you have to do... e.g.
Quote:
Run the mysql_fix_privilege_tables to add new privileges and features to the MySQL privilege tables...
