Web stats

Hi guys,

What kind of web statistics do you use? We're looking for some feedback? It is better to get one that offers detailed information on unique visitors, their behaviour and refering web sites. Other information is standart and you can find it in any tracker.

Re: Web stats

I actually use three - SmarterStats, Google Analytics, and Web Log Explorer Log Analyzer. I like the Web Log Explorer Log Analyzer because it runs locally.

I have not really gone into too much detail with stats as much (just because I do not have the time) but maybe something that actually showed the path that each visitor took. (I am sure one of them might do that, I just have not really looked all that much.) I know that a lot show starting page and ending page.

A page in which shows where they came from - like them clicking on a link from this forum and going to the site and then seeing what links they clicked on. Maybe, if possible, how long they stayed on a page. I know I used to have one program that would tell me how long some people stayed in our website. That was interesting.

I've dealt with this company before... http://www.i-stats.com . They have some cool Flash graphs that display the information quite nicely. Also they have some features that alot of traffic sites don't have.

It's a pay service though (but worth it in my opinion)... $9.95 for 1 month, $26.85 for 3 months (10% off), $47.70 for 6 months (20% off), or $83.40 for a year (30% off).

Re: Web stats

I used to use Webalyzer when I had a pay domain. Now I use whatever Sourceforge has, Google Analytics, and Statcounter. Statcounter is actually fairly comprehensive. It's free for the first hundred vistors, meaning it overwrites the data on a FIFO basis. You can pay if you want to record more than 100 visitors at a time.

Re: Web stats

Google Analytics is very good; it provides way more information than I will probably ever need. Keep in mind, however, that it uses Javascript, so it will not be able to provide information on the X percent of visitors who visit your site who have Javascript disabled.

The best stats program is one that is server-based, so that nothing gets missed.

One of my websites is hosted by a company that includes Webalizer with its hosting plan, which I have found to be pretty good.

You definitely want to be able to track daily unique visits and referring source, so that after a promotion you can gauge its results. I don't use most of the other features and I don't have an AdSense account or anything like that. But maybe you do, and so you'd like to track a variety of other parameters.

Re: Web stats

My vote would have to go to Google Analytics. Good reports and free. Webalyzer is pretty good and I do use it for more granular reports information.

Re: Web stats

I'm also currently using Google Analytics as they provide detailed stats about where your visitors come from and the number of hits/pageviews to your sites. If I'm not wrong, the free version allows 5 sites to be monitored, which is more than enough for me.
