I wanted some kind of software that can help me keep my kids away from website that i dont want them to watch. Not just adult website, couple of others which can be blocked too.

Any suggestions?

Well, if you want something easy you can buy NetNanny or equivalent and they're supposed to let you make a list of blocked sites. There's also fundamentalist Christian software that blocks almost everything if you're that paranoid.

If you're a little more computer literate, you can set up a proxy server and set it up to block exactly the sites or words you list. This way you'll have more control. You can also keep a log of where your kids go and what they search for. But, depending on their skill level, they may be able to get around anything you use; it's really not that hard and I'm sure their friends can tell them.

Not to sound preachy or accusative, but just remember that you can't keep your kids from using other computers, whether it's at school, the library, or a friend's house. Responsible parenting will work better in the long run. Monitor what your kids are doing when you can and teach them the values you believe in; tell them why you don't want them looking at certain sites. But remember you can't shelter them forever.
