PortForwarding doesn't want to change private into public IP - people see my privateI use a linksys WRT54GL with hacked thibor15c bios on it.
I have an amd 3200+ I don't have firewall software on it. I went to portfoward.com and use the specified ports for avp on my router and point it to the respective ip. My pc first used static dhcp ip address but since I read maybe with dhcp portfowarding doesn't work; I used static ip - the same IP... I removed the static dhcp ip entry from the router first since I wasn't going to use dhcp for this mahine anymore. I also set the dhcp range to another location since I dont' want the ip to be enabled for allocation since I'm going to use it statically for this machine. However using either dhcp or static I am not able to host avp or worms... I tried a software called "testports.exe" that test my routed ports and it says is fine the ports are routed but within the game it seem it doesn't want to router it there... One note... when I host Worms having the ports routed...people can see my internal ip... so it seems port fowarding doens't do its work there but on the testports.exe program it says it does... what can be wrong? Also...does anyone know if Upnp has to be enabled as well? because i read it allows applications to automatically foward ports?? So if someone sends I want to connect to port 666 automatically a port 666 opens on my pc?? |

Re: PortForwarding doesn't want to change private into public IP - people see my privQuote:
I went to a site called "whatsmyip.org" that test ports. however I notice that apparently my"tcp ports" route normally while "udp ports" don't. I tried the emule port tester site and it connected to both specified "tcp and udp ports"... but on the "whatsmyip.org" site it couldn't connect to the udp port only the tcp one. Could it be that the site is wrong? I also notice from that same site that apparently from the 3 ports that game requires "17011,80,6667"only tcp 17011 gets routed I image the others are just not currently being used so they can't be connect to... but since 17011 appears to be an important port and it showed as open on the site... I think people should at least been able to join the room dont' you think? Therefore appearently it routes it just fine but people can't join it? I dont' get it this is strange. RECENTLY I tried joining my game from another pc that uses a modem so it has acompletely differnet ip and wasn't even on a network…however when I tried to connect to the host I noticed it showed my private ip as the ip to connect to. So my IP is not being translated when it should. Therefore we have some ports being able to get routed meaning they translate the IP just fine...but other ports? like the port "responsable" for people to join the room is not working? I don't know just a wild guess. This situation happens just one games but it doesn’t happen on applications! for example people can join my ftp and http servers... now I can't say my router doesn't route udp ports since the emule page says it routed its port I guess it was just that site that couldn’t. So it routes udp and is confirmed tcps are also routed... Then what is going on? |
