C++ and Terminal Emulator Question-How many hours....What does it entail to add Rlogin to Tera Term Prohp.vector.co.jp?
Quote:
Is it a lot of coding? Is it a script? TeraT already supports Telnet so what would it take to add in rlogin protocal as well? How many hours of coding? Thanks! |

It looks to be a matter of writing an extension DLL and/or hacking the source code. I'd expect probably 4-6 hours of effort once the development environment was set up to support VC++ v5.0 or one of the other supported compilers, perhaps even the free version of Watcom's compiler? If you do not have an existing rlogin protocol library, perhaps another 2 hours for it plus any related testing time for the integration and usability. I'd think that the entire thing would certainly take less than a full day, perhaps 10h at the most. The original author's code is very readable and easy to understand. There are a good number of comments and I expect that the design is very straight forward, as it appears from the few source files that I reviewed. It is obviously very C and has no C++ except for the limited use of MFC, but even that is a blend of mostly C with some C++ as required by MFC. Most of the non-GUI is Win32 API calls. :davis: |

Re: C++ and Terminal Emulator Question-How many hours....I didn't realize this is written basically in C, but that is useful for me as well.
Thank you for the very informative reply. |
