web site speed up.Hi Everyone.
Hope anyone can help with my php problem. My website is on a ipower server, which has it's own api server-Apache. The phpinfo.php file on my server indicates that zlib is enabled. compression output -off. compression level=-1. out handler=no value. As my website loads at over 200 secs on a slow dial-up connection- i would like to compress the http and graphics ,so that the page load time is reduced considerably. Can anybody suggest the best way to compress the http. Which webpage files would i have to edit or add ,and what php code should i use to make the necessary changes. My html editor is Notepad-i can't use anything else Many thanks for your help with this. Best regards Phil Butler. |

Re: web site speed up.Hello Phil,
200 seconds to load a web page is quite unacceptable. I don't see how compressing the web page is going to help you all that much. Compressing a web page will only help to keep your transfer loads down. Say your homepage is 15KB in size (just the markup), compressing it will just mean that everytime the page is viewed, your server only sends out 5KB of data or less. You have to first find out what is causing the delays. Is it an overloaded server? Is the network congested? If it is an overloaded server or worse, a badly written script, then compressing the output is only going to make things worse. |
