downtimeHi,
If there is downtime, and the customers ask to compensate them. What can one do? Can I ask hosting company to pay for it? Actually, does hosting company guarantee the uptime? If no, what's the usually uptime for them? thanx |

Re: downtimeCan you explain that again in a clearer form, I had difficulty understand what you actually wanted to know.

Re: downtimeHi,
If you don't have an uptime SLA, there is nothing that you have to do for them. Just use your best judgement when it comes to certain situations and ask yourself is it fair to compensate for extended periods of downtime such as from drive failures even if you don't have an uptime SLA. Remember, take care of your clients and they will in turn take care of you. If your reseller provider have an uptime SLA then you can ask for compensation which you can pass along to your clients. I will say uptime guarantees are shady so be very careful about what is promised and read it very carefully. You'll be surprised at what isn't part of the guarantee. Good reseller providers will have 99.8% or more IMO. Good luck. silvermoon Last edited by admin : 08-Jun-2006 at 03:21.

Re: downtimeHello Aestrix,
If your hosting provider does not provide Uptime then you should complain them. But first you have to refer the terms and condition, SLA etc. We all must have read/understand the company’s SLA. I suggest you to go with some reputed hosting providers. Thank you, =========== Innovative2001 |

Re: downtimeI'm not aware of any hosting SLAs that would actually reimburse you for any losses -- almost all the host SLAs that I've seen just offer a modest discount off your hosting fees after significant downtime.

Re: downtimeIf suddenly arise any problems with hosting provider that on mine is better to find other company which will provide uptime of your work. From the very beginning, while you will find the hosting provider, it is well necessary to learn about them all and then already to deal with them that any problems have not arisen then

Re: downtimeQuote:
1.It depends on the type of hosting you've contracted. If you are in shared hosting, there's no much you can recover. 2.If it's there an SLA, read it and see what entitlements you are due for downtime. 3.In most cases, the extent of refunds are equivalent to discounts in billing. You don't get compensate for other types of losses, so before you buy, do your own due diligency. Tony Costa |

Re: downtimeIt depends on the hosting company TOS if they have mentioned such conditions then they have to compensate.
There is no 100% uptime but yes 99.97% uptime is surely offered by many hosting companies. |

Re: downtimeThis is an important issue. Because of the downtime there is an possibility to loose traffic and your important clients. A serious advice to beginners is to check whether the hosting company are offering the best budget plan, 99% uptime and quality 24/7 customer support.
