Looking for just the right host.

Looking for a low-cost, reliable host.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- 50MB of space
- 5GB of bandwidth
- ASP, PHP, CGI (if it is possible to have all 3)
- Secure
- POP3/SMTP that can handle hundreds of ingoing/outgoing e-mails every month, such as a newsletter or something
- Autoresponder E-mail with no limit
- LOW COST! Around $5/month would be great. Will pay more, up to around $10 maybe if it has everything (maybe some more space/bandwidth atleast) as long as it is reliable.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Re: Looking for just the right host.

Hello,
We can host you with no problems at all. You can view more information at our sticky on these forums at http://www.gidforums.com/t-9850.html
Or you can go directly to our website at http://need-space.co.uk and view our plans there.
Our hosting starts from just $1.76 per month.
We do not allow ASP as our servers run on Linux and Windows is needed to use ASP.
Let us know what you think

Regards

I have to second google, and always research the company. Low rate companies usually mean lower quality and less support. Paying a little more usually pays off in the long run.

Re: Looking for just the right host.

You say you want a good host, and your budget seconds that.

I will, and always have recommended Digitally Justified - http://www.digitallyjustified.com/ their plan for $9.95 CAD has:
250MB of disk space
5,000MB of bandwidth
And free setup.

So the above should suit you easily.

If you need a good hosting it means that you need paid hosting, as good free hosting you can't find It's my personally opinion and I hope that many agree with me.
I can already offer you one paid company with which I for a long time as deal.
Look this site and you will understand much www.ts-host.com

Re: Looking for just the right host. - Advice

amandeep,

Let me help you by reviewing your needs :

You need: 50MB of space
Most hosts these days give you space in the Gigs and not MB anymore. For less than USD10, you can get 5GB. Getting more doesn't hurt - it's just the norm these days. Hosting companies these days has got to be generous as the competition is really fierce.

You need: 5GB of bandwidth
Again, most host these days give you traffic transfer of about 50GB-250GB. For less than USD10, you can get those. Getting more doesn't hurt - it's just the norm these days. And again, hosting companies these days has got to be generous as the competition is really fierce.

You need: ASP, PHP, CGI (if it is possible to have all 3)
For most hosts, ASP does not go with PHP simply because the former mainly runs on Windows machines. If you go with Linux hosting, they'll probably not run ASP. But most web applications and websites run on Linux . The very cool gidforums.com itself runs on PHP.

You need: Secure
This is very subjective. All hosts will say they are secure. From my hosting experience, I have yet to encounter a security issue.

You need: POP3/SMTP that can handle hundreds of ingoing/outgoing e-mails every month, such as a newsletter or something
Most hosts can handle that. In fact, these days, you are better of getting a host that supports IMAP as well (besides POP3/SMTP). IMAP is better than POP3/SMTP in many ways.

You need: Autoresponder E-mail with no limit
Most hosts can send Autoresponder E-mails with no limit. But almost all hosts don't allow you to send thousands of emails at 1 go... as long as you send each with about half a minute apart, they are ok with it.

You need: LOW COST! Around $5/month would be great. Will pay more, up to around $10 maybe if it has everything (maybe some more space/bandwidth atleast) as long as it is reliable.
If you are willing to pay up to USD10, then you'll get pretty decent and good hosting. Your price is actually just right for a minimal hosting service as at today - with much security and reliability.

I have a page where I briefly review 2 hosts (ryantoh.com/webhosting/), which, from what I see, they fit your needs well. I, as their customer, have very good experiences with them.

Choose a good one as shifting house later on is not something you would like to do, especially when it involves databases. Good luck in finding a good host. I know the task is not easy.

Re: Looking for just the right host.

now thats pretty low specifications. most hosts offer way more than that so u'll have no trouble finding one. I personally use:

www.hostmywebsitenow.com

click on "web hosting" then "hosting plans"

IF u scroll down the bottom and click on "compare plans" u can compare all the features each plan has.

hope this helps u out
