Absolutely, infact that is what most Linux/Unix home users do. I personally have never used Unix but I do have a dedicated Linux machine and I know when I installed it, that was definately an option. I am running RedHat 7.2 on a PI 200 mhz with 64mb RAM, and it works great. If you have a copy of Unix and feel up to a chalenge, try it.

It is a great experience, and you really learn a lot about how an OS actually works. Windows sheilds you from so many details, so you've got unparalleled customisation options with Linux, if you're good enough

Please do it, comercial distros of Linux are nearly as safe as Windows itself, and sets up LILO (the dual-boot prog, that's normally used) & everything for you. Even funkier are that it can tell your network & internet setting from Windows, and impliment them in Linux.

Oh, did I mention it's free?

oops, that was a post from SO long ago (back when there was probably only 1 or 2 articles on the site - so it wasn't hard to guess what we were talking about).

anyway the program is XOSL.

XP+Linux

Ever tried to run XP and Linux on the same HD? When they are on both HD XP takes up so much resources when you try to run Linux, you wil notice how slow it runs. Anyone have any ideas about this?
