Any similar experiences or...

Most webmasters already know of DMOZ (Open Directory Project) and Zeal http://www.zeal.com and I have been an editor in small sections for quite some time (under the same nickname). However good it is for your site to appear in the DMOZ directory for appearing in search engines like the formidable...

If you want to go straight to the optimization tips look for these: ++++++++++
This is based on a newsletter e-mail from SEOlabs (which I don't remember signing up for) which turned out to be really good. This is in my own words, but the idea is the same.
When I first got into webmastering I had...

I know some people have a bone to pick with the ODP (DMOZ) but the new RDF is ready and so sites submitted between now and September should be appearing in directories everywhere soon. This includes my first site so I'll be interested to know if the directory REALLY has an impact on traffic.

Nice easy read about pagerank and advised strategies. Very sensible comments that I seem to be hearing time and time again. http://www.free-webmaster-tools.com/articles-google-pagerank.htm
In a nutshell this is how the article is concluded,

I have just 'installed' a very simple Bot Tracking script on my website(s) and wonder if anyone else would like to help me 'beta' test it.
It's just one simple class written in PHP that you can include in all your existing php web pages. No MySQL required.
For the time being it will only track...

I am assuming that this is only available if you splash the cash to Looksmart/msn but load up your IE6 and just type in for example:
fun websites
The search page appears as normal but also, the first on the list appears automatically. Maybe it is because I don't search that way normally but...

I put this article online on Jan 25 (so just 4 days ago?) and it's already appearing on Google!!!
How is that? This is definitely something NEW, never happened before and I hope it's not something 'accidental' or just a fluke...

With the comprehensive change to the web page urls throughout the website, i lost all my TOP 10 listings on Google :(
i actually expected and dreaded it but it had to be done; looks like it's gonna be even quieter around here in November ... ah well, at least it's not December yet.

Check out the many pages for the phrase (googlebot session) and notice the similarities in the...

I was surprised to find that Google lists Zeal and Looksmart listings for the phrase 'GIDTopsites'.
I didn't know that happens with Google (meaning, Google listing an unaffiliated directory's listing).
