The FAQ page found here needs to be updated. Attached are some rudimentary changes. Just search for "dsmith" to locate the change locations. I leave it to someone more competent than I. :)

Today I made the following changes to the TEAM:
dsmith replaces Garth Farley as the only other Super Moderator on GIDForums™.
Garth Farley and Conkermaniac leaves the TEAM on their own accord, due to new (real-life) responsibilities.
I would like to thank them both for being here from the very...

When you name a variable in C or C++ what are the valid "characters" one can use?
Obviously alphabets are okay, I assume the underscore is also okay... what else?
So, the following is valid variable names?
something;
_somethingelse;

As I just recently posted a new poll in the Open Discussion, I noticed an error on the poll page. I attached an image of what I saw.
Using Mozilla 1.0 PR when I:
Click Submit Post
Enter Poll Details (Question 1, 2, and 3)
Changed Poll options from 4 to 3.
Previewed the Poll
Screenshot of what...

I was thinking that it would be interesting to see the number of members in each level, 1 through 5. Right now GIDForums has over 2500 members, but I would be curious to know how many of these members are regulars (ie higher than level 1) & superstars (level 5).
So I thought I would ask the...

Thread split from: access violation.
FYI, this forum is NOT dead. I know that I read every single post and reply here on GIDForums™ and so does dsmith, GarthFarley, WaltP and the others, I suspect. It's just that this particular forum, the MS Visual C++ / MFC Forum is still very young (being the...

Muah haha. I found another error that appears on the Search page.
In FF, the drop down box that says "Find posts by user" or "Find threads started by user" will make the cell it is in move while you change the selection.
So goto the search page, then select Find threads started by user, and then...

Hi guys,
Just yesterday, I posted a new thread to the SourceCode forum and today I found that I forgot to attach the zip file and the post needs some editing. I know that editing for post is not allowed after 90 mins, but I think that It should be always editable in the source code forums. You...

Hi, i have another suggestion(i hope you guys aren't getting sick of me suggesting too many things!). We all had kind of a contest recently about displaying a diamond of asterisks of any width that a user requests (dsmith knows about this). the thread is in the c++ programming forum. It was a lot...

hey i have a suggestion. It's a good thing to be able to edit your posts quickly especially when you realize you need to add something or remove something. However, i've noticed that people can edit their posts even after somebody has posted a message after them! This defeats the whole purpose of...

I think the PM box should allow you to hold a specific # of PMs as per your post count.
I know that new members cannot send a PM right away (at least I am pretty sure), but why not have the # of PMs you can send increase as your post count increases?
0-10 posts = no PM
11-49 posts = 10 PM
50-99...

I love the way this forum looks. There is just one change that NEEDS to be done.
The way the sub forums are displayed on the main page. The ones:
It looks soooo ugly on the main page. It needs to be resized to about two forums per line!
The pages just looks very weird and misplaced with the sub...

If you enable "show signatures" in your User CP Options, you should automatically have the "show signature" box checked for the quick reply.
If you cannot work it out like that, at least have the show signature checked by default when someone click quick reply.
Also, is there any way to sync the...

After 45 years of mm/dd/yy and 25 years of dd-mon-yy, I find dd/mm/yyyy to be confusing. Esp. during the 1st 12 days of a month. Starting with the 13th day I finally get it! ;)
Can a config setting be added with the time zone setting to choose the format you would like the date to display as?
